Child labour remains a challenge in many coffee-producing communities around the world. At KIMCO Coffee, we are committed to protecting children’s rights and ensuring no child labor is used in coffee farming or processing, in line with international standards (ILO Convention No. 138 and No. 182). Where children may have to work on farms, any participation should be limited to safe, age-appropriate, non-hazardous family activities that do not interfere with education or well-being. We are committed to creating child labour-free zones where our coffee is sourced: on our farm or on the farms of the 600-plus smallholder farmers. Instead of working in the fields, children should be in classrooms, on playgrounds and in safe environments where they can build a brighter future.

That is why 10% of KIMCO Coffee’s profits are dedicated to initiatives that help prevent child exploitation and support educational opportunities for children in our coffee-growing communities in Lwengo District, Central Uganda.
